HOW TO PLAY
-
01
You start in North Carolina
One state, blue, surrounded by fifty-odd shades of trouble. Everything else belongs to the enemy.
-
02
Attack only what you touch
Glowing states share a border with land you hold. That rule is the game teaching you the map.
-
03
Earn the right to attack
Pick your state, read the briefing, then answer the geography question. Get it right and the march goes ahead with 150 extra coins. Miss it and the attack is called off — you are shown the answer, and you can take another question, study the map, or go and pick a different state.
-
04
Buy an army, then place it
Soldiers up front, archers behind them, armoured troops to hold the line. Place every man you bought while the enemy stands still, then press ADVANCE when your line is set.
-
05
Take the state, open new fronts
A conquered state turns blue and everything it borders becomes reachable. Take all fifty to win.
On the battlefield
Nothing moves while you are placing. The enemy stands in the formation you can see, and you set your whole line against it before anyone advances. Once you press ADVANCE, troops fight on their own — and once the lines meet your whole front goes in together rather than one at a time. You can still overrule them: click one of your soldiers, then click an enemy, and he will go for that one until it is down. Not sure of a state? LEARN THE STATES on the main menu lets you click around the map and practise with nothing at stake.
States you miss come back sooner, and conquered states keep appearing. By the time the map is blue, you should know it.
